Literary Festival - Monday 3rd - Friday 7th July 2017
St Ivo School celebrated entering July with their annual Literary Festival. It was hard to top last year’s week but our guests and students have made it the best year ever! Monday began with returning author, Marcus Alexander. In spite of injury, Marcus not only talked to all year 7s about his creative inspirations for his Charlie Keeper trilogy, but he demonstrated some fearsome trampoline stunts before delivering creative writing workshops. Next, year 8s were transported to the streets of Shanghai, along the Yangtze River and into the world of the circus by author Julian Sedgwick. Without ruining the finale, Julian’s tricks were breath-taking and will be remembered by all those fortunate to witness them. Ex Students, Laura and Olivia delivered their renowned Illustration workshop to a range of key stage 3 students on Thursday. The quality of the artwork amazed – what a talented collection of students! To round off the week BAFTA award winning Course Leader from CRC, Michael Warburton, encouraged Year 9 students to imagine a story for a game that they’d love to play. Some amazing and wacky designs were developed, all completely original. Many returned at lunch to continue the discussion with Michael and feedback consistently used the words "fun", "creative" and "more time to develop our ideas". What a fabulous end to our memorable week of events!

St Ives teen author’s fantasy trilogy sells thousands on Amazon
NATHAN DAVEY.jpgNathan Davey, a former St Ivo School student, had given up on becoming an author after his first five attempts at fantasy fiction flopped on Amazon. But when he decided to write from the heart rather than what he thought people wanted to read, he found thousands of online fans.

The first two volumes of his Sparkle Trilogy sold more than 10,000 copies – both paperback and e-book – in Europe and the US and the first instalment topped one of the charts on German Amazon in May.

The series, which follows teenage sorcerer Amber Sparkle as she discovers a horrifying secret, has been acclaimed by Amazon users in the US – where the bulk of Nathan’s sales have been made. His stories have even been compared with the Harry Potter and Hunger Games novels.

6th Form Quiet Area in the RC

We are very pleased to report that the 6th Form Quiet area was opened on the 26th September 2013 by
Sue Campbell, Chair of Governors. This long anticipated space is a large area with plenty of space to spread
out and 18 dedicated computers and a printer.
